About us

The Agribusiness Focused Partnership Organization (AGRIFOP)

AGRIFOP is a non-government organization established in Rwanda in 2012 to provide support to rural smallholder agricultural development and to serve for public interest. AGRIFOP is registered under law N°04/2012 of 17/02/2012 of the laws of Rwanda governing NGOs holding REG. No 014/NGO/2015. AGRIFOP has been supporting agriculture inputs market development programs in the country through agro-dealers, farmers, farmer produce buyers, processors and rural traders. Our team members have diverse experience in consultancy, research, capacity building and development. We broadly focus our expertise in: Skills development, professional development, scientific and technical services, and agricultural technical services.

The AGRIFOP team is composed by experts’ background from agriculture, finance, banking, business, sales and marketing, accounting, insurance, training, business facilitation, and the organization is open for anybody who is interested and willing to provide his contribution in agribusiness development.

The goal of AGRIFOP is to improve food security and livelihoods in developing transitional rural markets in Rwanda and to strengthening market processes and empower rural Rwandese to create wealth and improve their livelihoods, by transforming subsistence agriculture to market oriented agriculture. The organization’s goal is in line with the Government’s programs like Vision 2020, EDPRS-4, CIP program (Crop Intensification Program) etc., which have the common objective to increase the productivity by using different new agricultural technologies, among them ISFM (Integrated Soil Fertility Management) which is one of AGRIFOP approach.

AGRIFOP’ technical expertise includes:

  • Collaborating with agro-dealers to improve the effectiveness and impact of program interventions; and to bring innovative ideas and generate grassroots support for donors involvement;
  • Sharing information with civil society organizations to achieve public accountability and transparency; Giving voice to key stakeholders and ensuring that their perspectives inform policy, advocacy and, ultimately impact;
  • To contribute to improvement of public private partnership and fostering learning about food security based on development challenges;
  • Promoting ownership of technologies and policy development processes.
  • Strengthening donor’s programs through greater local and regional knowledge.
  • Developing the capacity of agro-dealers and farmer’s organizations on undertaking decision-making.

Vision

AGRIFOP’s vision is to create a food secure and prosperous environment in Rwanda through a sustainable agricultural approach to growth based on agro-dealers and smallholder farmers capacity building and coaching.

Mission

To increase agricultural and livestock productivity in a sustainable manner, through the development and transfer of effective and environmentally friendly agri-input business approaches to secure increasing farmers ‘income and livelihood.

Objective

To strengthen profitable value chains through technical and financial services to agro-dealers and farmers including youth, and women in entrepreneurship business development

Specific Objectives:

  1. To strengthen the capacity of local organizations and agro-dealers to efficiently avail agri-inputs and services to smallholder farmers and increase the demand for agri-inputs.
  2. To enhance farmer access to more reliable input and efficient technologies targeting high productivity and farmers’ income increase, improved food and nutrition security at household.
  3. To enhance agro-dealers and farmers to access to more loans through banks and micro-finance institutions stimulating more sales and inputs use.
  4. To promote outputs markets through more quality agriculture commodities targeting regional markets
  5. To strengthen AGRIFOP management capacity targeting high quality service and efficient delivery to agro-dealers and farmers.
